Frequently Asked Questions (faqs)
What is Chiropractic Treatment?
Chiropractic care returns the body to its natural state of wellness. Most disease is due to an imbalance or blockage in the systems of the body, and chiropractic relieves pain and promotes healing by restoring balance and communication throughout the nervous system. We accomplish this by realigning the spinal vertebrae and releasing stress and tension in the muscles.
Which health issues does chiropractic treat?
Chiropractic treatment relieves neck, back, leg, shoulder, and arm pain, headaches, accidental injuries such as whiplash, and fibromyalgia. An amazing number of other health issues are related to these conditions, so no matter which symptoms you are experiencing, ask us about pain management.
Is Chiropractic Treatment safe?
Chiropractic care consists of gentle movements of the vertebrae called adjustments. The goal is to return the vertebrae to their proper position, and easy pressure is the best way to realign the spine.
One of the benefits of coming to our office is that both of our doctors have a very gentle, patient touch. You’ll feel no discomfort; rather, you’ll feel tremendous relief, as if you’ve been rejuvenated. You may hear a noise as the vertebrae moves back into place, similar to cracking a knuckle, which is perfectly normal.
Which types of treatment do you offer?
In addition to gentle chiropractic adjustments and headache relief, we offer a variety of pain management modalities, including massage therapy, rehabilitation, and physical modalities.
What are your credentials and experience?
We have been in business since 1986, and our staff are all licensed and certified in their areas of expertise.
How are you different from other Charleston chiropractors? We want to partner with you in healing your pain or health issue, and we make sure you can afford care. Our office is staffed with two Charleston chiropractors and six massage therapists to ensure you have a full range of treatment options. Discover more about why we’re different.
Are you listed with the Better Business Bureau?
Yes. We are also members of the American Chiropractic Association and the South Carolina Chiropractic Association.
Can you guarantee this will work?
Chiropractic is a system of healthcare delivery; therefore, as with any other healthcare delivery system, we cannot promise a cure for any symptom, condition, or disease. Providing you with the very best in pain management care is our goal, and if the results are not acceptable, we will refer you to another provider to assist you.
If I go once, does that mean I’ll always have to go?
It’s a common myth that going to the chiropractor once will cause you to require continued treatment. Routine chiropractic care is much like regular dental care or scheduled maintenance on your car; you’re not required to do it, but everything functions better if you do.
Your daily activities will occasionally cause your spine to become misaligned, so regular chiropractic care keeps your spinal column in good working order.
What can I expect on the first visit?
When you come into WellnessPlus in Charleston, SC for the first time, you’ll be greeted warmly and given the appropriate paperwork to fill out, if you haven’t done it already. You’ll be taken to the chiropractic doctor’s office for your consultation with Dr. Fantino. She will ask about your medical history and nature of their complaints.
You’ll move to the examination room, and the doctor will perform a complete physical, neurological, orthopedic, and spinal examination followed by x-rays. You’ll go home, and the doctor will wait for the x-rays, read them, and correlate a personalized chiro treatment plan based on all the information.
On your second visit, the doctor will share the results of the tests and recommend a treatment plan. You’ll begin healing that day, which will consist of gentle chiropractic adjustment along with a variety of therapies depending on your unique condition and the doctor’s recommendations.
