Massage Therapy
A successful chiropractic treatment plan includes massage therapy. Using several specific techniques, massage therapy can relieve knots in the muscles and muscle tension, maintain the chiropractic adjustments and ensuring the vertebrae stay aligned.
Massage therapy techniques include:
Neuromuscular Massage Therapy: After your chiropractor aligns the spinal vertebrae with gentle adjustments, a massage therapist will work the muscles to strengthen them while releasing tension. The release of tension is essential to help the spine stay in its new position—and you feel great! Massage therapy also increases blood and nutrient supplies to the muscles while removing toxins. Your body will release feel-good chemicals (endorphins) that will keep you coming back for more. |
Trigger Point Therapy:
A trigger point is a tender spot in a muscle or tissue that will “trigger” discomfort in another area of the body. If you have “muscle knots,” trigger point therapy reduces the pain for almost immediate relief; however, you may need several sessions to create lasting results. Our massage therapists will recommend exercises or other muscle work to do at home to extend the effects of the therapy.
Pregnancy Massage:
Massage Therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for Pre and Post Natal care! It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, neck pain, leg cramps, headaches and edema (swelling).
In addition, massage for pregnant women reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, like the hips, knees and ankles. It also encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.

Deep Tissue Massage:
Deep tissue massage is a higher-pressure version of Swedish massage and uses many of the same techniques. Our clients find that regular deep tissue massage reduces the number of chiropractic adjustments they need because massage alleviates the tension that pulls vertebrae out of alignment. Myofascial Release: Fascia is one term for soft tissue or connective tissue, and myofascial release is simply massage of the fascia. Inflammation or irritation of the fascia cause it to thicken, and this technique consists of gentle stretching and massage to help the fascia release stress or tension. |
