Chiropractic: Alignment of the Spine
The Activator Method in Chiropractic
Being a part of the most researched chiropractic techniques, we thought it was best to touch on the Activator Method and tell you a few things about it!
Its efficiency is supported through research, unlike any other instrument adjusting technique! With research to back it, and clinical trials to support it, the Activator Method has proven its importance within the Chiropractic field. In the hands of an experienced and trained Chiropractor, this tool can assist the client in achieving and maintaining healthy alignment of the spine.
The handheld device is used to deliver a small amount of pressure to a joint or vertebra in the intention of aligning it correctly. Seeing as the force is sent quickly, the muscles have less time to tense, therefore allowing the Activator to freely manipulate the intended joint or vertebra. This tool can be used alongside manual manipulation of the spine in order to provide the client with the best treatment specific to them.
Next time you come into Wellness Plus, ask us about Activators and if they will be a part of your care plan! We look forward to seeing you!
How Stretching Benefits your Chiropractic Care
The spine is held in place by the surrounding muscles and ligaments. It is important, as we age, to keep muscles as flexible as possible since they have a tendency to tighten over the years.
The tightening of muscles cause the body to no longer maintain symmetry. This can be seen in the raise of one side of the body. When stretching is used alongside chiropractic, the muscles within the body, specifically surrounding the spine, relax and begin to align with the adjustments made by the chiropractor.
Stretching alongside chiropractic care can also improve the range of motion within the body as well as flexibility. When you are more flexible, you are less likely to be injured as long as you continue to listen to your body and understand your limits.
Muscles are where we hold our stress, so if you are adding stretching into your routine, you are combatting your stress effectively!
We focus on your overall wellness here at Wellness Plus. Our objective is to help you live a healthy life alongside your chiropractic appointments. If you are looking for a reliable chiropractor, schedule your appointment today!

Realistically, there is no negative aspect to a pregnant woman receiving chiropractic care. In fact, there are many benefits for receiving chiropractic care throughout pregnancy.
But how exactly can chiropractic help with the pregnancy?
Even before the conception of a child, Chiropractic can help a woman with her fertility. Chiropractic maintains the overall wellness of the human body by focusing on the spine and spinal cord. Seeing as our bodies are one system made up of many, the nervous system plays a delicate and dominant role in the wellness of a woman’s reproductive ability. Because of this, it is very important for a pregnant woman to be consistent with her chiropractic care underneath a chiropractor who understands the body of a pregnant woman.

Electric Muscle Stimulation: How does it work?
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is a tool used in chiropractic practices to contract muscles through electrical waves.
But how does it work, exactly?
A machine creates an electrical current which is sent through wires that are connected to adhesive patches. Placement of the adhesive patches is determined by the chiropractor based on the client’s needs. Once the patches are properly placed, the current is sent to the muscle tissue, creating a response from the body’s sensory and motor systems.
While EMS is relatively new, it is gaining popularity! There are many uses including strength training, rehabilitation, testing neural and muscular function, pain relief, and muscle re-education. Since technology is a fast-moving innovation, compact EMS machines are available for home use and can be easily managed by the client.
The next time you are in need, ask your chiropractor about EMS and see if it is the right course of treatment for you!
Protecting Your Shoulders
The shoulder joint is the most mobile joint in the body. Allowing a full 360 degrees of motion on multiple planes. This allows the shoulder to be one of the most functional part of the body, but this comes at a price. Since the shoulder moves so freely it is also the least stable joint. Damaging the joint through injury, or wear that occurs over time, restricts your ability to function. Try these tips to protect the shoulder from injury.
